When I first read the individual assignment number three I was truly nervous of how I was going to create an original innovation or invention. I found myself being negative and saying comments such as “you are not creative”, “you cannot do this”. However once I placed myself in my creative “flow”, I was able to breeze through the divergent thinking process. At the moment my flow includes sitting down in front of my dormitory’s desk while wearing my very comfortable pajamas.
To my surprise I found it easy to create my own “innovention.” I did not know, however, if the process had been facilitated due to my own innate creativity, of because of the newly learned process of brainstorming. Without having enough evidence to claim it as either or, I decided it was the combination of the two. I also realized the only thing holding me from such a creation, was my own distorted view of my creativity. I had seen myself as an average eighteen year old, not so much as an innovator.
Now that I have completed my innovation, I am truly proud of myself. I never thought I could combine very different components of security systems and devices into the next security system for Aggieland. Doing this project has allowed me to view myself as a creative individual with the power to excel and create different systems by having only an open mind.
